Olivia's message-- and her bag

You've seen her everywhere. She has acted as Dr. Remy Hadley on House and modeled on the front cover of Maxim magazine. Imagine my excitement when scrolling through my daily morning e-mails today, I encountered a story about Olivia Wilde (you guessed it) doing good. Olivia Wilde and partner-in-crime Barbara Burchfield, in conjunction with Alternative Apparel, have created a way for us to take part in their education movement in Haiti.

The Message Bag, made of army canvas and pebbled leather, is designed to be worn either as cross-body or backpack. We love the casual look of the bag, but are impressed by the sturdiness and craftsmanship of the brass hardware. What we love the most, though, is that proceeds from sales of the bag are directly donated to promoting education at the Academy for Peace and Justice in Port-au-prince.

Alternative Apparel is no newcomer to the do-gooders of the industry. Through their environmentally-conscious and fair labor production and manufacturing methods, the company aims to uphold ideals of social responsibility while bringing its customers casual and carefree designs. Alternative Apparel is clearly a perfect match for Olivia and her project.

"People want to give not once a year by writing a check on Christmas. They want to be able to make giving a part of their lives- which is something that we are huge proponents of," Olivia Wilde says in Alternative Apparel's "Behind the Seams" video. We are huge proponents of this too, Olivia.

Take part in the movement and grab the limited-edition bag while you can, either at Shopbop or on the Alternative Apparel online store.

Always looking in the mere while heeding Olivia's wise words,
xx
